For all the folks asking, why do you care Trump loses ?
United States is the one of oldest democracies in the world. In India- the world’s largest democracy , children learn from textbooks the definition of democracy as stated from former American president Abraham Lincoln as — “Government of the people, For the people and By the people”. Accept it or not, America is the super nation (or was!). But what makes America great is not Trump’s MAGA, it’s the American dream - democracy, rights, liberty, opportunity and equality, and its inclusiveness. The American stories about the fight for equality for people of all color and orientation, women, science, environment serve as a moral compass for the world to rethink their own policies. If in fact Trump gets away with fraud, what chance is left to the India, for students and citizens fighting to overthrow bad policies?
It is a matter of hope!! Hope that the fight won’t go to waste. It takes ages to climb a hill, whereas seconds to slide down. It took a great fight for black equality, Women and minority rights, Environmental conservation, yet just 4 years to reverse it all. India was known for Secularism, but where are we today when a jewellery ad promoting communal harmony gets misjudged?
Science is not a joke! Climate change is not a joke! Companies may hate the tax policies that is proposed by the opponent, But can one really be selfish when the core values, beliefs and facts are being questioned? Is anyone naïve enough to question science during a pandemic?
There is a reason why Scientific American — American scientific magazine since 1845, endorsed a political candidate (Joe Biden) for the first time in their history. Biden’s victory may be a political victory for the democratic party, but its a moral victory for the world. A win for dignity and decency. It is the reassurance that — Truth will prevail. Spreading lies will matter if it comes from the World’s most powerful leader, It will matter if one innocent mind is changed to opt violence. As Trump rambles on spewing lies before his big defeat (Let’s Hope!), I suggest Melania help him copy dignified concession speeches from Republican senator John McCain and Secretary Hillary Clinton- “To diplomatically portray the love they share for the nation”, cause the World is taking note.
As for Indians- America will continue to be a land of hope, with the resources to allow anyone to have a bright future, where Madam Vice President Kamala Harris can confidently tell her niece- “You can be President one day”. That will be the fairytale that girls around the world will come to love.
As for me- I love my country more than any other, Saying BLM or discussing foreign issues does not make me ignorant about the farmers and rape victims of India. I pray for an India where a girl can breathe fresh air, go out safely and speak her mind, without being thrashed. But take cue Indians- Stay educated, cause this is how lies and false information divides us. Let’s hope they start Daily Late shows in India and give entertainers like Arnab a run for their ratings.
As for Joe Biden- the President being handed the Divided states of America, Good luck in reviving peace in your country and in bringing it back to its former glory, without an economic recession. And please rewrite the guidebook — “ Good presidential behavior”.
As for the US election- Let every vote be counted — the military and absentee ballots (not the truckloads of Biden votes). And may it be worth the wait for the democrats as it was for Greta Thunberg to clap back at “Real-Donald-Trump” using his own words. Gentle Reminder to the drunk people glued to their news screens : “Good things take their good time to happen”.
As for Donald John Trump (the least racist person) claiming nobody knows better than him about construction, drones, technology, history, military, Science, Facebook (more than Zuckerberg) , Environment ( pulled out of Paris Agreement), finance ( trump institutions filed for bankruptcy six times), court, polls (crying election fraud without proof), banks ($1 billion in debt), trade, nuclear weapons , foreign relations (nearly started a war), being the lawsuit king (He’s proving that’s true), politicians, other side (Whatever that means), having the best words ( I hope he’ll be “conducking” a conference to “addreth” the Americans and “crngratulate” Biden) and being the imaginary winner of the 2020 US elections- I ask “Could you “BE” more wrong?!
